Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently took the stage at his first rally for the upcoming Haryana elections 2024, where he strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly politicizing the Agnipath military recruitment scheme. Shah’s remarks have sparked considerable discussion, particularly around the themes of national security and job opportunities for Agniveers.
During the rally in support of BJP candidate J.P. Dalal from Loharu, Shah accused Rahul Gandhi and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah of having a troubling agenda specifically, plans to release all terrorists post-election and engage in dialogue with Pakistan. He suggested that such actions would undermine national security and create a dangerous precedent.
Shah defended the Agnipath scheme, stating, “The Agniveer scheme has been implemented, but Congress, especially Rahul ‘Baba,’ is playing politics over it.” He emphasized the government’s commitment to the Agniveers, revealing that both the Home department and state police forces have allocated a 20 percent reservation for them. “If any Agniveer returns, he will not be left without a job; the BJP takes responsibility for this,” Shah assured the audience.
Shah also addressed the youth of Haryana, countering what he described as misleading narratives from “Hooda and company.” He urged them to focus on the facts rather than political rhetoric aimed at spreading fear and confusion regarding their futures.
The rally was well-attended, featuring prominent figures such as Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, BJP‘s Haryana in-charge Biplab Kumar Deb, MP Kiran Choudhary, and other senior leaders. Their presence underscored the BJP‘s unified front as they head into the elections.
Amit Shah‘s rally not only highlighted the BJP‘s positions on military recruitment and job security for Agniveers but also aimed to galvanize support against perceived political adversaries. As the October 5 elections approach, such events are crucial for shaping public opinion and reinforcing party narratives. The stakes are high, and both the BJP and Congress will be working hard to sway the voters in Haryana.
