Arvind Kejriwal to Step Down as Delhi Chief Minister

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal made headlines on Sunday with his unexpected announcement that he will step down as the Chief Minister of Delhi within the next two days. However, Kejriwal assured that he would only take up the chief ministerial position again if the public reaffirms his integrity in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

In his statement, Kejriwal said, “We will go to the people’s court to prove our innocence,” reaffirming his commitment to public accountability and transparency.

Kejriwal’s political career has been nothing short of extraordinary. It began in 2011 when he became a key figure in the India Against Corruption movement, led by activist Anna Hazare. The movement sought to enact the Jan Lokpal Bill, a citizen’s ombudsman to fight corruption. This nationwide campaign brought Kejriwal into the public spotlight as a champion of clean governance and anti-corruption measures.

Inspired by the momentum and ideals of the movement, Kejriwal founded the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in 2012, with the promise of providing an alternative to the traditional political establishment. These ongoing disputes have often fueled a narrative of confrontation in Kejriwal’s political career.

As Chief Minister, Kejriwal has been credited with focusing on crucial sectors such as education, healthcare, water, electricity, and infrastructure. His government is particularly praised for launching the Mohalla Clinics initiative, which has made healthcare more accessible to the city’s residents by establishing neighborhood clinics across Delhi.
