The Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation election has become a political flashpoint after Congress and AAP raised allegations concerning pressure on opposition candidates and the rejection of an AAP nomination. The BJP has rejected the allegations, while the September 29 withdrawal deadline and October 11 polling date remain key milestones in the 44-seat civic election.

Ahead of the 2027 Gujarat Assembly election, Congress is working on a new political agenda focused on employment, farmers, workers and young people. The party has begun organisational efforts to rebuild its presence across the state.

A political controversy has erupted in Gujarat after Congress MLA Imran Khedawala sat down during part of the Vande Mataram rendition in the state Assembly. The BJP has demanded an apology, while Khedawala defended his decision and said he stood for the traditionally sung portions of the national song.

Gujarat continues to remain a major political and economic centre as the government focuses on infrastructure, investment, industrial growth and welfare, while opposition parties work to strengthen their political presence.
