Goa First Alliance

Goa politics is entering a new phase ahead of the 2027 Assembly election as GFP-Congress talks create uncertainty around the AAP-GFP “Goa First” alliance, while Congress also discusses coordination with Revolutionary Goans.

The Goa voter-roll controversy has focused attention on 97 voters who were found eligible but were left out of the final roll during the SIR process. The Goa CEO later said many of the cases had been enrolled separately through Form 6, while the remaining cases were being processed, as opposition parties and the state government continued to present different views on the wider voter-roll issue.

Goa's political activity is intensifying ahead of the 2027 Assembly election as AAP and Goa Forward Party continue with their “Goa First” alliance, while reports of Congress-GFP discussions create fresh questions about the opposition's electoral strategy. The BJP is also strengthening its organisation, while the electoral-roll revision issue remains in focus.

The AAP-GFP alliance adds a new element to Goa’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 Assembly election, with both parties presenting a separate platform from the BJP and Congress. The alliance’s political significance will depend on how it develops its constituency-level organisation, candidate strategy and policy agenda in the months ahead. The emerging three-way political dynamic makes alliance developments, campaign issues and voter outreach important areas to watch as the election approaches.

Goa's political landscape is taking shape ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with the Aam Aadmi Party and Goa Forward Party launching the “Goa First” alliance, while Congress and Revolutionary Goans have separately agreed in principle to contest together. Recent discussions within the GFP have also brought the possibility of wider opposition coordination back into focus.

Ahead of the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, differences have emerged within the Goa Forward Party (GFP) over its alliance strategy. While senior GFP member Prashant Naik has called for consideration of Congress's offer for broader opposition coordination, GFP president Vijai Sardesai has said the party continues to stand by the “Goa First” alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and that no decision has been taken to change it.

Congress and Revolutionary Goans have reached an in-principle understanding to work together for the 2027 Goa Assembly election, but the proposed alliance remains subject to several conditions. The discussions cover Goan identity, land and natural resources, political defections, employment, governance and environmental issues.

Political preparations for the 2027 Goa Assembly election have intensified with the Aam Aadmi Party and Goa Forward Party announcing their ‘Goa First’ alliance. The development comes as other Political Parties, including Congress and Revolutionary Goans Party, also work on pre-poll arrangements in the state.
