The Congress Central Election Committee has finalized the following individuals as party candidates for the upcoming elections to the Legislative Assembly of Jammu & Kashmir.
Phase I:
On Monday, August 26, 2024, the Congress released its first list of nine candidates for the upcoming three-phase Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Party general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir has been nominated from Dooru, while former State unit chief Vikar Rasool Wani will contest from Banihal.
This announcement follows the Congress securing a seat-sharing agreement with its ally, the National Conference (NC).
The Congress will contest 37 seats in the 90-member assembly. It will partner with its INDIA bloc ally, the National Conference (NC), under an agreement that allocates 32 and 51 seats to each party, respectively. On five seats, both parties will engage in a ‘friendly but disciplined’ competition.
