Kejriwal to meet Governor on Tuesday at 4:30 pm

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has formally requested a meeting with Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, which has been scheduled for 4:30 pm tuesday i.e., 17th September, according to officials from the LG House. Sources within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) indicate that Kejriwal intends to use this meeting to submit his resignation. This follows Kejriwal’s surprising announcement on Sunday, in which he stated his intention to step down from his position. The timing of his resignation comes in the wake of his recent release from Tihar Jail, where he spent nearly six months related to the excise policy case.

Since Kejriwal’s resignation announcement, speculation has intensified regarding his potential successors within AAP. Current conjecture points to ministers Atishi, Gopal Rai, and Kailash Gahlot as possible candidates for the role. The final decision on who will succeed Kejriwal will be made after discussions with Manish Sisodia and other members of the AAP Political Affairs Committee (PAC) later today.

In his address to party workers in Delhi, Kejriwal underscored his commitment to democratic processes, stating that he will seek the public’s vote to return to the CM’s office if they believe in his integrity. He emphasized that until elections are held, a member of AAP will take over his duties.

Additionally, Delhi Speaker Ram Niwas Goel has announced that the Delhi Assembly will reconvene in the coming days. This decision follows his recent conversation with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, indicating that legislative business will continue amidst the current political developments.
