Yogeshwar Dutt Olympic Medalist wishes to contest in Elections

I have expressed my desire to contest the elections to the Chief Minister” said Yogeshwar Dutt, highlighting his intention to run in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections.

Yogeshwar Dutt, the celebrated Indian wrestler and Olympic medalist, has recently expressed his intention to contest the Haryana Assembly elections, signaling a significant shift from his sports career to the political arena. Dutt, who gained prominence for his achievements on the wrestling mat, including winning a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics, is now considering leveraging his popularity and public standing to make a mark in state politics. His entry into the political fray is viewed as a strategic move to address various issues from a legislative platform, especially those pertaining to sports, youth development, and community welfare.

The reaction to Dutt’s political ambitions has been mixed but generally positive, with many seeing it as a refreshing change and a potential boost for the electoral landscape in Haryana. His stature as an Olympic hero provides him with a unique platform to connect with voters and advocate for issues close to his heart and further shaping the dynamics of the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana.

Amid speculation that former Rohtak MP Arvind Sharma might be given the BJP ticket for the Gohana assembly segment in Sonipat district, several BJP workers staged a protest in Gohana on Saturday, burning an effigy of Sharma. In the meantime, Olympic medalist Yogeshwar Dutt, who had previously contested unsuccessfully from the Baroda assembly segment, is now actively campaigning for the BJP ticket from Gohana.

Yogeshwar Dutt, who resides in Rohtak and operates a wrestling academy nearby, is now actively seeking the BJP ticket for the Gohana assembly segment. This move follows recent protests by BJP workers against the potential selection of former Rohtak MP Arvind Sharma for the same ticket.
