Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is gearing up for a pivotal event— a ‘Janta ki Adalat’—scheduled for September 22 at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. This gathering comes shortly after Kejriwal’s release from Tihar Jail, where he was held until the Supreme Court granted him bail in a money laundering case related to the excise policy.
Gopal Rai, AAP’s Delhi state coordinator, has been vocal about the party’s resilience against the BJP’s attempts to undermine their efforts over the past two years. He stated, “Arvind Kejriwal has thwarted all BJP conspiracies, and now it’s a direct confrontation. If he wins a significant majority, it will elevate our country’s standing while diminishing the credibility of those who conspired against him.” This sentiment underscores AAP’s commitment to rallying its supporters ahead of the crucial assembly elections.
With the assembly elections set for February 2025, AAP is focusing on bolstering its booth-level organization. During a recent meeting, Sandeep Pathak, the party’s National General Secretary (Organisation), rallied divisional in-charges, urging them to secure victories at every booth. The stakes are high, and Pathak emphasized that this election could be the fiercest contest in Indian political history.
Rai also reflected on Kejriwal’s journey as Chief Minister, noting the significant progress made during his three terms, thanks to the support of Delhi residents. He recalled how the BJP once dismissed Kejriwal’s government as “accidental,” only to see him re-elected with a substantial majority. Following their success in Delhi, AAP expanded its influence by forming a government in Punjab and securing MLAs in Goa and Gujarat, quickly becoming the third-largest national party in India.
As AAP prepares for the elections, the party is not only focused on internal organization but also on the broader narrative they wish to present. Pathak remarked on the intense atmosphere of the upcoming elections, stating that Amit Shah was forced to distribute pamphlets in the last assembly elections due to pressure from AAP’s grassroots efforts. “This time, I can assure you that Prime Minister Modi will also be out there handing out pamphlets door to door in Delhi alongside Amit Shah,” he asserted.
With all eyes on the upcoming ‘Janta ki Adalat’ and the assembly elections, AAP is clearly positioning itself as a formidable force, determined to make its mark in Delhi’s political landscape once again.
