Narayan Chandel is an Indian politician and Leader Of Opposition of Bharatiya Janata Party, Chhattisgarh State. He is Member of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly representing Janjgir-Champa and also served as Deputy speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly

Chandel’s political journey began in 1998 when he was first elected to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly. With the formation of Chhattisgarh as a separate state from Madhya Pradesh, he continued his political career by participating in the 2003 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election from the same constituency. However, he faced defeat at the hands of Moti Lal Dewangan of the Indian National Congress, losing by a margin of 7,710 votes.

Undeterred by this setback, Chandel returned to the political scene in the 2008 assembly election, emerging victorious and earning the position of Deputy Speaker in the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly. His resilience and commitment to public service were evident.

In a further display of his political prowess, Chandel secured victory once more in the 2018 assembly election. This time, he defeated Moti Lal Dewangan of the Congress Party by a narrower margin of 4,188 votes. Chandel’s political trajectory highlights his perseverance and dedication to representing his constituency in the legislative arena.
