Owaisi Asks UP Muslims to Lead, Congress Hits Back Asks What He Did in Telangana

Uttar Pradesh politics has once again heated up after a statement by AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi. Owaisi has appealed to the Muslims of UP to lead themselves instead of following others.
Owaisi often says in his rallies that Muslims should not become a vote bank, but should become leaders themselves. He told UP Muslims not to depend on Congress, SP or BSP and to build their own political strength. He says that until the Muslim community leads itself, no one will take their issues seriously.
Congress Hits Back
After Owaisi's statement, Congress has reacted sharply. Telangana Government Advisor and Congress leader Shabbir Ali attacked Owaisi.
Shabbir Ali said Owaisi is using words that make Muslims look like "meek followers". He questioned that Owaisi is advising UP Muslims to become leaders, but what has he himself done for Muslims in Telangana?
Shabbir Ali, who is working along with Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency Congress in-charge Mohammad Waliullah Sameer, said that Hyderabad itself is the stronghold of AIMIM. If Owaisi is so concerned about Muslim leadership, then first he should give an account of the work done for the education, employment and progress of Muslim society in his own stronghold.
What is the Whole Matter?
In fact, Owaisi's party AIMIM is trying to strengthen its organization in Uttar Pradesh. In the 2022 assembly elections also, AIMIM had contested on many seats. Now before the 2027 elections, Owaisi is continuously touring UP.
His strategy is clear - to convince Muslim voters that Congress and Samajwadi Party have only taken their votes, but have not allowed them to become leaders.
On the other hand, Congress says that Owaisi works like the B-Team of BJP. Congress alleges that Owaisi benefits BJP by dividing Muslim votes. Shabbir Ali said that the Congress government in Telangana is running 4% reservation and many welfare schemes for Muslims, while AIMIM has only done lip service.
Impact on UP Politics
There is about 19% Muslim population in Uttar Pradesh and their vote is decisive on many assembly seats. In such a situation, this statement of Owaisi is going to increase tension for both Samajwadi Party and Congress.
Political experts believe that if Muslim votes are divided, BJP will directly benefit. This is the reason why Congress is immediately counter-attacking every statement of Owaisi.
At present, one thing is clear from this war of words that the battle over Muslim leadership is going to intensify before the UP elections. Whether the Muslims of UP will listen to Owaisi and take the path of becoming leaders themselves, or will remain with the old parties, only time will tell.
