KTR Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Unfulfilled Promises, Accuses Congress of Corruption in Telangana

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR, has intensified his criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing the ruling party of failing to deliver on its election commitments.
Speaking to party workers, KTR questioned the implementation of promises made by Congress ahead of the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections. He alleged that the state had become a source of financial benefit for Congress leaders and raised concerns about corruption and governance under the current administration. These claims represent the BRS leader's allegations and have not been independently established in the reports cited.
KTR Challenges Congress Over 420 Promises
KTR focused his criticism on Congress's pre-election commitments, claiming that the party had promised six guarantees within 100 days, alongside 13 declarations and a total of 420 promises.
He questioned why, according to his account, more than 1,000 days had passed without the full delivery of those commitments. He also raised concerns about promises relating to unemployed youth and other sections of society.
The BRS leader argued that Congress should explain the status of its assurances to voters rather than make new commitments elsewhere in the country.
Rahul Gandhi Faces Questions Over Telangana's Youth
KTR also criticised Rahul Gandhi's public statements about student welfare and employment. Referring to the Congress leader's Chhatron Ki Goonj campaign, he challenged Gandhi to visit Telangana and listen directly to the concerns of students and unemployed young people.
The BRS leader specifically questioned the status of Congress's employment commitments, including the promise of two lakh government jobs annually. He argued that employment opportunities and recruitment assurances remain important issues for Telangana's youth.
Employment, examination-related concerns and the implementation of welfare commitments have remained significant subjects in the state's political debate.
KTR Targets Chief Minister Revanth Reddy
KTR also directed his criticism at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing the state government of corruption, alleged financial irregularities and poor governance.
He alleged that Rahul Gandhi was overlooking problems in Telangana while the Congress government continued to face questions over its performance. The BRS leader contrasted Congress's administration in Telangana with the BJP-led government at the Centre, criticising both parties while advocating a political alternative outside the two national parties.
The allegations form part of the BRS's broader effort to challenge Congress's record in government. Any claims of corruption or financial wrongdoing, however, require supporting evidence and appropriate investigation.
Political Significance for Telangana
KTR's latest remarks highlight the continuing rivalry between the BRS and Congress in Telangana. After losing power in the 2023 Assembly elections, the BRS has sought to hold the ruling party accountable for its electoral commitments and use issues such as employment, welfare guarantees and governance to challenge its performance.
For Congress, the implementation of its promises remains an important measure of public accountability. For the BRS, questions over delivery provide an opportunity to rebuild political support and position itself as a strong opposition force.
The debate is likely to continue as political parties assess the government's performance and respond to concerns raised by voters.
Conclusion
KTR's attack on Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy has renewed the political debate over Congress's election promises in Telangana. His questions about the six guarantees, 13 declarations and 420 commitments place the focus on implementation and accountability.
The key issue for voters is how far the government's promises have translated into measurable results. A detailed assessment of individual schemes, employment figures and official implementation records would help establish the extent of progress beyond the competing claims made by political parties.
