Siddaramaiah Stands Firm Amid MUDA Scam Controversy
Ongoing Investigation
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah finds himself at the center of a political storm as he faces an investigation in the MUDA ‘scam’ case. Despite the mounting pressure, he made it clear on Friday that he has no intention of resigning. Instead, he directed his criticism towards the BJP-led central government, particularly highlighting Union Cabinet minister HD Kumaraswamy, who remains out on bail following an FIR against him.

Accusations Against the BJP
Moreover, Siddaramaiah accused the BJP of trying to destabilize the Congress-led government in Karnataka. “It’s the BJP’s strategy to destabilize our government, and that’s why they’re acting this way. They tried Operation Lotus but failed because we have 136 legislators. The BJP formed a government without a mandate twice—did Yediyurappa even win? We will fight this legally,” he asserted.
Drawing Parallels
In addition, Siddaramaiah drew parallels to previous political controversies, questioning, “Did the Prime Minister [Narendra Modi, then Gujarat CM] resign after the Godhra incident when an FIR was filed? Kumaraswamy [JDS leader] is part of Narendra Modi‘s government, and he’s out on bail—has he resigned?”

Defiance Against Resignation Demands
Furthermore, when reporters asked about resignations in light of ongoing investigations, he pointedly responded, “Have they resigned? Aren’t they embarrassed? I will not resign; I will fight this legally.”
Allegations of Irregularities
Consequently, the BJP’s call for Siddaramaiah‘s resignation stems from allegations of irregularities in the allotment of 14 sites to his wife, BM Parvathi, by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). These allegations suggest that she received compensatory sites in a more upscale area of Mysuru, where property values were significantly higher than the land that MUDA “acquired.”
Court Orders Investigation
In light of these developments, a special court in Bengaluru recently instructed the Lokayukta police in Mysuru to investigate the Chief Minister regarding the MUDA site allotment ‘scam.’ This decision sets the stage for an FIR against him, thereby intensifying the political tensions in the state.

Conclusion
As the situation continues to unfold, all eyes remain on Siddaramaiah and the Congress government in Karnataka as they navigate these serious allegations and the challenges posed by their political opponents.
