Amit Shah’s Bold Stance on Jammu and Kashmir: A Glimpse into the Political Landscape
On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a firm declaration regarding the state of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that there are efforts to reignite terrorism in the region. Shah emphasized his commitment to eradicating terrorism to such a degree that it will never resurface. Addressing a public rally in Kishtwar, he also predicted that the National Conference–Congress alliance would not succeed in forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a rally held in the Padder-Nagseni assembly segment, where he was campaigning for BJP candidate and former minister Sunil Sharma, Shah declared, “We will eradicate terrorism to such a degree that it will never resurface.” He accused the National Conference and Congress of attempting to revive terrorism, referencing their manifestos which he claimed propose releasing terrorists. Shah asserted, “This is the Modi government, and no one has the power to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Shah further framed the upcoming election as a contest between two opposing forces: the National Conference and PDP on one side, and the BJP on the other. He criticized the NC–Congress alliance’s promise to restore Article 370, questioning whether such a move would be beneficial. He warned that if the alliance succeeded, it could result in the removal of reservations granted by the BJP to Paharis, Gujjars, and other groups.
In his remarks, Shah reassured the public with a bold statement: “Don’t worry, I am closely monitoring the situation in Kashmir, and you can be assured that neither Abdullah’s party nor Rahul‘s party will form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.”
This visit was Shah’s second trip to the Jammu region within two weeks. His earlier visit on September 6 and 7 included the release of the BJP’s manifesto for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections and a workers’ convention, further underscoring his active engagement in the region’s political landscape.
