Delhi Deploys 25,000 Personnel, CCTV Surveillance Ahead of Fresh CJP Tiranga March

Delhi has intensified security arrangements ahead of the proposed “Lehra Do Tiranga” march called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Central Park in Connaught Place on Friday, October 16, 2026. The arrangements reportedly include the deployment of more than 25,000 police and paramilitary personnel across New Delhi and nearby areas, additional CCTV cameras and prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
The security measures come as CJP continues its campaign demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Delhi Police Strengthens Security Arrangements
According to the report, new CCTV cameras have been installed around Central Park in Connaught Place and Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. Police personnel have also been deployed at strategic locations to monitor the situation and regulate public movement.
A high-level meeting chaired by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar was held on Thursday. Senior officers, including the Joint Commissioner of Police and the Deputy Commissioner of Police responsible for the New Delhi area, reportedly participated in the meeting to review preparations ahead of the proposed march.
Authorities have appealed to the public not to assemble at Central Park and warned that violations of applicable restrictions could invite legal action.
CJP Calls Fresh Protest After Leaders’ Arrests
CJP announced the march following the arrests of its leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka earlier in the week. The party has been demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over allegations concerning electoral roll revision and has made the proposed demonstration part of its continuing campaign.
The group has also objected to restrictions on demonstrations at Jantar Mantar, which has reportedly been de-notified as a protest site.
With the proposed gathering shifting attention to Central Park, the dispute has raised questions about protest permissions and the arrangements required to conduct demonstrations in busy public areas of the capital.
AAP and Student Activists Expected to Participate
The report states that the All India Students’ Association’s Neha Bora and the Aam Aadmi Party were also expected to participate in the demonstration.
Their reported involvement could bring together political representatives and student activists around concerns relating to electoral roll revision and the handling of protests. The extent of participation would depend on the developments on the day of the march.
SIR Controversy Remains at the Centre
The proposed demonstration is linked to the wider controversy surrounding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. CJP has alleged irregularities in the exercise and has demanded action against the Chief Election Commissioner.
The allegations remain claims advanced by the protesters and should be assessed against official records and responses from the Election Commission.
The heightened security arrangements underscore the authorities’ preparations for the proposed gathering. The immediate focus remains on maintaining public order, managing movement around Connaught Place and determining whether the demonstration can proceed under the applicable restrictions.
