Karnataka Government Limits Vande Mataram Rendition at Official Events, Sparks Political Debate

Bengaluru, September 11, 2026: The Karnataka government has issued a new directive limiting the rendition of Vande Mataram to its first two stanzas at official state government programmes. The order has created a fresh political discussion in Karnataka, with the decision drawing attention from political observers and opposition leaders.
According to the directive, the restriction will apply to programmes organised by the state government. However, an exception has been made for official events attended by the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister or Governor.
