Revitalizing Andhra Pradesh: CM Naidu’s Vision for Economic Growth
A Call to Action
On Thursday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu rallied officials from various departments to revitalize the state’s economy. He set an ambitious target of achieving a 15 percent growth rate. Moreover, Naidu emphasized the need for tireless efforts in implementing new policies across all sectors.
Addressing Economic Regression
During a review meeting focused on agriculture, allied sectors, industry, and services, Naidu expressed concern over significant regression in nearly every sector. He attributed this decline to the detrimental policies of the previous government, which in turn, contributed to the collapse of the state’s economic framework.

As officials presented detailed assessments of their departments over the past decade, Naidu reiterated the importance of activating new policies to stimulate growth.
Beyond Welfare: A Focus on Income
Furthermore, Naidu stressed that the government’s responsibilities extend beyond merely providing welfare measures. The focus must also be on boosting the incomes of citizens by strengthening various sectors.
He highlighted the potential for significantly reducing farming costs through comprehensive mechanization. This approach would ensure that improvements in living standards do not come with added financial burdens for the population.
Reflecting on Recent Economic History
Looking back, Naidu noted that Andhra Pradesh achieved a growth rate of 13.7 percent between 2014 and 2019. This was despite the challenges faced after the state’s bifurcation. However, he lamented that the growth rate subsequently plummeted to 10.59 percent under the YSRCP government.

Concerning Trends in Growth Rates
In addition, Naidu pointed out a concerning trend: in 2019, the growth rate difference between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh was only 0.20 percent. By 2024, that gap had widened to 1.5 percent.
He also revealed that per capita income during the previous TDP regime stood at 13.21 percent. Conversely, under the subsequent government, it fell to 9.06 percent, adversely affecting living conditions.
Setting Strategic Objectives
Moreover, Naidu urged officials to recognize that Andhra Pradesh currently ranks fifth in the southern region for per capita income. Therefore, he called for the establishment of clear objectives to improve this status through a strategic vision. Certain sectors are lagging and require revitalization to foster economic growth.

Introducing the P-4 System
In a forward-thinking move, CM Naidu announced the introduction of the P-4 system in January. This initiative aims to encourage those at the top of the financial spectrum to uplift at least 10 percent of the population.
Alongside the state’s welfare schemes, he called on the wealthy and organizations to act as mentors. Their support can significantly improve the living conditions of the underprivileged.
A Hopeful Future
As Andhra Pradesh looks toward a more prosperous future, CM Naidu’s commitment to economic revitalization and inclusive growth serves as a compelling call to action for all sectors.
With focused efforts and innovative policies, there is indeed hope for a brighter economic landscape in the state.
