CM Yogi Adityanath to Disburse Over ₹148 Crore Scholarship to 4.60 Lakh UP Students

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to transfer more than ₹148 crore in scholarships and fee reimbursement directly into the bank accounts of over 4.60 lakh students on October 3, 2026. The disbursement is being made through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
The programme is aimed at supporting students from different social and economic backgrounds and covers scholarship and fee-reimbursement beneficiaries in Uttar Pradesh. The government has highlighted the use of an automated system to improve transparency and ensure that financial assistance reaches eligible students directly.
Category-Wise Scholarship Distribution
According to the reported figures, 2,23,615 students from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category are set to receive around ₹60.01 crore.
Around 1,59,959 Scheduled Caste (SC) students will receive approximately ₹64.54 crore. In addition, 38,084 students from the General category are set to receive around ₹11.43 crore.
The programme will also provide approximately ₹12.06 crore to 38,901 students from minority communities.
Together, these figures account for more than ₹148 crore in scholarship and fee-reimbursement assistance for more than 4.60 lakh students.
Direct Benefit Transfer for Students
The scholarship and fee-reimbursement funds are being transferred directly to students' bank accounts through DBT. The Uttar Pradesh government has said that automation of the scholarship system has helped improve transparency and reduce delays in the distribution process.
The wider scholarship programme has also covered millions of students. For the 2025–26 financial year, the government reported that more than 65.95 lakh students had received scholarship and fee-reimbursement benefits worth over ₹4,793 crore.
Focus on Education Support
Scholarship and fee-reimbursement programmes are intended to reduce the financial burden associated with education for eligible students. The latest disbursement therefore represents another instalment of financial assistance through the state's scholarship system.
The use of DBT also means that the funds are transferred directly to beneficiaries rather than being distributed through an intermediary payment process.
Uttar Pradesh Government's Scholarship Programme
The latest scholarship distribution comes as Uttar Pradesh continues to use digital and automated systems for welfare payments.
For thousands of students receiving assistance in this round, the direct transfer provides financial support toward education-related expenses. The category-wise distribution also reflects the state's existing scholarship and fee-reimbursement framework for eligible students.
The October 3 disbursement is therefore an important education-support measure involving more than 4.60 lakh beneficiaries and over ₹148 crore in financial assistance.
