Yogi Adityanath was born on 5 June 1972 in Panchur, Garhwal, Uttarakhand. He completed his graduation in Science from Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in Srinagar, Uttarakhand.
He entered public life and became associated with the Gorakhnath tradition. In 1998, he was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha from Gorakhpur at the age of 26. He was subsequently re-elected from Gorakhpur in 1999, 2004, 2009 and 2014, serving five consecutive terms in the Lok Sabha.
During his parliamentary career, he served on several parliamentary committees, including committees dealing with food and public distribution, external affairs, transport, tourism and culture, public undertakings and other government matters.
On 19 March 2017, Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. In 2022, he was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Gorakhpur Urban constituency and began a second term as Chief Minister on 25 March 2022.
As Chief Minister, his administration has focused on areas including infrastructure, investment, public administration, law and order, urban development, tourism, education and healthcare. His government also oversees a wide range of state departments and development programmes.
Alongside politics, Yogi Adityanath has been associated with educational, medical, social and charitable institutions connected with the Gorakhnath tradition. The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly identifies his interests and activities as including yoga and spirituality, social service, education, healthcare and cultural activities.
