Praising the Gandhi Family’s Legacy
At a rally in Pune’s Vadgaon Sheri, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar praised the sacrifices of the Gandhi family. He criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for targeting them instead of addressing key issues. “Instead of focusing on inflation, law and order, and unemployment, PM Modi is fixated on attacking the Gandhis,” Pawar stated. Moreover, he emphasized the need for leaders to prioritize the nation’s pressing concerns.
Emphasizing the Contributions of the Gandhis
In addition, Pawar highlighted the contributions of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi. “Nehru spent 14 years in jail. Indira and Rajiv sacrificed their lives for the nation. Indira created Bangladesh, and Rajiv modernized the country. Thus, Modi should appreciate their legacy rather than criticize them,” he said.
A Political Shift in Maharashtra
Reflecting on previous elections, Pawar noted the Congress won just one seat out of 48 in Maharashtra five years ago. The NCP secured four. “This time, we won 31 seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Consequently, this shows that people wanted change. You must bring the same change in the upcoming polls,” he urged.
Criticism of ‘One Nation, One Election’
Furthermore, Pawar criticized the Centre’s ‘One Nation, One Election’ proposal. “After passing the resolution, they announced separate polls for Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana, apart from Maharashtra. Therefore, why these different decisions? The rulers are misleading people with deceptive politics,” he remarked.
Mocking BJP’s ‘400 Paar’ Slogan
In a light-hearted jab, Pawar mocked the BJP’s goal of winning over 400 seats in the Lok Sabha. “The Prime Minister said ‘400 Paar’ in his speeches. People believed ‘Modi hai toh Mumkin hai,’ but why was 400 seats even needed?” he questioned.
He claimed that this push was not for development but aimed at changing the Constitution. “BJP leaders have openly stated they want 400 seats to change the Constitution,” he added.
INDIA Bloc: A Move to Protect the Constitution
Moreover, Pawar explained his decision to join the INDIA bloc. He expressed concern that the BJP would alter the Constitution if they gained power. “We formed the INDIA alliance with Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s party to stop their attempt to reach 400 seats,” he said.
Law and Order in Maharashtra
Additionally, Pawar criticized Maharashtra’s government for neglecting law and order. “Instead of focusing on development, they are supporting drug issues and Koyta gangs. When we were in power, we carried out projects to benefit the people,” he stated.
Allegations Against Sunil Tingare
Finally, Pawar attacked Vadgaon Sheri MLA Sunil Tingare, from Ajit Pawar’s faction, over a car accident case in Pune. “Tingare calls himself efficient, but in a high-end car accident that killed two young people, he went to support the accused instead of helping the victims,” Pawar claimed.
