C Joseph Vijay

The R Veeramani POCSO case has become a major political issue in Tamil Nadu after questions were raised over the earlier police investigation. With a fresh SIT probe, arrests and political attacks between Vijay and M K Stalin, the case has raised wider questions about police accountability and the handling of serious allegations.

Voting is underway in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies on October 6, putting Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay before their first major bypoll test since forming the government.

Discussions between Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) have intensified, with reports suggesting alliance talks and possible Cabinet representation. However, no official announcement has been made by either party.

Tamil Nadu politics has entered a fresh phase of confrontation after Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s Assembly remarks and gestures involving former Chief Minister M K Stalin triggered criticism from the DMK and VCK. The DMK has announced statewide protests, adding to tensions between the ruling TVK-led alliance and the opposition.
