पंजाब में 2027 से पहले ही कांग्रेस का मास्टर प्लान, खड़गे-राहुल ने संगरूर रैली से दिया बड़ा संदेश

The drug problem in Punjab has triggered a fresh political confrontation after Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticised the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government over the spread of synthetic drugs, commonly called chitta. In an official statement published by the Ministry of Home Affairs through PIB on October 18, Shah announced plans to meet families in Mansa, Sangrur and Gurdaspur on October 20, bringing drug trafficking, public safety and state accountability back into the political debate.

Rahul Gandhi's Sangrur Rally on Nov 4 to Launch Congress Campaign as AAP Faces Tough Challenge

The BJP is making Punjab’s drug problem a central theme of its campaign ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. However, the party faces a bigger challenge than attracting attention: convincing voters that it can deliver meaningful change on an issue that has affected communities for years.

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh has criticised the AAP government in Punjab over its education record, saying concerns raised by party MLA Sukhveer Singh Maiserkhana over teacher shortages expose the gap between the government's education claims and the situation on the ground.

Pargat Singh has taken charge as Punjab Congress president ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with party unity and organisational strengthening as his immediate priorities. Singh has positioned “Brand Punjab” and issues including drugs, law and order, farming, the economy, debt and women's safety at the centre of the Congress's political narrative.

BJP Punjab in-charge Satish Poonia has reiterated that the party will contest all 117 Assembly seats independently in the 2027 Punjab election, amid speculation about a possible BJP-SAD alliance.

BJP-SAD alliance discussions were reported in August 2026, including a proposed 70-47 seat formula, but Punjab BJP chief Kewal Singh Dhillon and BJP in-charge Satish Poonia subsequently said the BJP would contest all 117 Assembly seats on its own. No final alliance or seat-sharing agreement has been announced.

Punjab Election 2027 preparations have entered an active phase, with the BJP making the drug menace the central theme of its statewide campaign through a 4,000-km Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra. AAP is responding by highlighting its governance record and grassroots outreach, while SAD is also using the drug issue in its Punjab Bachao and women-focused campaigns.

A tragic incident in Telangana has sparked anger among State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) employees after a 24-year-old woman bus conductor, Gundla Pravalika, died following an alleged attack by a passenger. The conductor, who was seriously injured after being pushed out of a moving bus during an argument over ticket change, succumbed to her injuries after nearly ten days of treatment.

Karnataka's latest bus fare hike has triggered a political controversy across the state, with opposition parties strongly criticising the Congress government over the increased financial burden on ordinary passengers. The revised fares for state-run transport corporations have come into effect from midnight on November 4, making bus journeys more expensive for thousands of daily commuters.
